    Hi JimboX,

Thanks for the information much appreciated. I'm going with the 20120305 firmware. I'll keep you posted. I have also found some screen protectors which I will let folks know how they are - only took about 2 months to get here though!

Had a crack at updating with limited success. No issues with connectivity however a couple of questions as the upgrade failed - still have a tablet though!

After the upgrade do you still have Android Play, Gmail etc?

Did you root before the upgrade?

Did you use the restore or upgrade option? I chose upgrade as per Wanden instruction but appreciate that XDA say use restore. I was being a little cautious as I don’t have a back up the existing ROM.

    Cheers

    Hi Williowbrae,

After I upgraded, I had Play/Gmail, etc. (and all the Chinese Apps) - in fact, everything was in Chinese, so it was a quick dive into settings to chenge the language! I hadn't rooted prior to the upgrade, and I used RESTORE. I actually had a look at the Wanden stuff, and the firmware they suggested (although it worked) really didn't go well with the N90, and half the required Market apps weren't appearing (there were a lot of other problems too, but I'm not enough of an expert on Android builds to know what was causing the issues).

Being a newbie, I used the tools and followed the instructions on the XDA thread, and - miraculously - it worked first time (and all the subsequent times, as I searched for firmware that actually did the biz!). I also used their instructions for rooting the tablet.

Since then, my N90's been working really well - only the very occasional re-boot (wierdly, in the middle of the night - never when I'm using it).

Hope that helps - good luck with the upgrade!

    Hi JimboX

Many thanks for the reply and info. I am very much a newbie on Android although I work with X86 etc. hence being a little cautious. I've seen too many disasters in my time! I think I’ll crack on tomorrow and see how I get on with the XDA thread - Once I have an image I can go back too I'll be happier. I'd like to give the Visture ROM a go it has had good reports too.

    I'll keep you posted

    Cheers.

    Well guys,

Bit of a disaster! Followed instructions and used Restore but the upgrade still fails at layer 2-6 with 'download firmware failed'. Anyone any clues? I have tried the visture firmware same error. Now about to try Wackym might as well go for broke! Can still connect via my windows 7 PC and get a green light before I flash.

    Any help appreciated!

    Quick Update guys.

Decided it had to be a connectivity issue between the PC and the tablet so reconnected the USB cable to another USB port. Restarted RKbatch tool reloaded drivers and hey presto I now a working tablet again phew! Hope this helps someone else. Now to try the Visture upgrade!
