Try asking the OP (andropos). He is an admin and seems to get some (not all) firmware versions directly from Yuandao. Maybe he knows people to ask there.

Meanwhile try 20120608; it has problems but it is better than the previous versions.

my friend & I both both bought units at the same time and suffered from the freezing issue. None of the firmware upgrades improved this so we went back to the retailer and they exchanged for new units. Neither of these new units freeze so I suspect freezing might be a hardware issue.

Unfortunately my replacement unit is also faulty because it will only run when plugged into the mains - another trip back to the shop for me at the weekend :-(

took the unit back again today due to the charging fault and exchanged for another. The new unit operates fine - no freezing or boot-up issues and it's running on the latest firmware. Although there was never any chance of getting my money back at least they got a working unit for me in the end. Now...what to do about that power button

If you look at the first post i have updated link to latest firmware, if you have not upgraded yet.

Im pretty sure that the first batch have some hardware issues that have now been fixed, about the button i would suggest to remap the power button to one side button.

What was the charging fault? After popping my unit open to fix camera and updating it runs knock on wood awesome except battery life stays at 100% all the time. Antutu tester got it to finally drain and show it so think it is not hardware. Is this what you had? I want to keep my unit cause I think it can be fixed eventually. What do you think?

I'm gonna your root method this week chuckles. If I can root I can get maybe an app to fix maybe.

You dont need root to remap the Power button, just use adb to edit the keyboard layout file.
I may need Win7 to get the USB driver to work.

The unit wouldn't charge at all, as soon as I disconnected the mains lead it switched off. When reconnecting the mains lead it booted without any button press. When checking battery usage I could see it would climb to 100% charge but then the history graph gave the impression of an instant discharge.

Even when switched on using the mains lead it wouldn't shutdown via the power button and there was no response to an "on+vol_up" button press.

I think there must have been a hardware fault.
