Hi Andropos. Thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately that version of ICS 4.0.3 on Teclast's site is the one I installed in February and there has been no updates since then.
There are some problems with it. The main issue I would like them to fix is the incorrect rendering of text on web pages. I know other manufacturers that use the RK2918 (like Cube) addressed this months ago.
I have my tablet rooted but have no idea what I need to do to in order to fix this issue. Maybe another member knows how.
It seems Teclast is more concerned about releasing new tablets rather than releasing updates for their current ones.

Before I comment on the issue of random text on web pages, let me say that Teclast released the A10 Rockchip RK2918 in December and ended production before the end of February. So it is not an old model. Also they introduced 3 new ones since January (A10 allwinner, A12, A15). So I think this proves my previous posting that they are only concerned with a cash grab.
Anyway I attached 3 website screenshots so you can better understand the random text/number problem. Anyone who has owned a Cube U9GT2 since January will have experienced this at some point.
EDIT: Sorry I thought I was uploading full-size pics, not thumbnails.

I am sorry to say Golf Hacker, but I do not think your going to get an update from the manufacturer for the A10 Rockchip RK2918, the current A10 Allwinner Arm7 builds were updated last from the manufacturer around March/April 2012 and these builds were not very good aswell, apart from ICS, it was missing a massive amount of functionality and the wifi was completely unstable, most of us actually went back to GB builds.
Thankfully along came a guy called Christian Troy, who discovered the Italian 970i is a rebadged a10t and basically created Pwn3d and then moved to CM9. Without this guy we would all be stuck with what the manufacturer produced.
And I can say with full confidence I doubt we will not see another build for our a10 Teclast from the manufacturer.
We would be in the same position as you if it wasnt for Christian Troy.
And with that said, I am sorry to say that most of us will no longer be supported by the manufacturer as more than likely they have moved on now to the next hardware, the china market moves at a very very quick rate, and a tablet run doesnt last as long as western tablets, support is even less.....

Thanks yellowperil for your thoughtful response. I will cut my losses and sell the Teclast and buy a tablet that has good forum support. I'm now looking at the Eken A90 advanced or the Momo 11 bird. I see Mr Tasselhof over at SD is into the Gemei G9 also.
The Allwinner A10 chip seems to be the trend.
I now know that the manufacturers will probably not support their products so buy something the forums will.

I have since sold my Teclast A10 (Rockchip RK2918) but I will add a few helpful tips
I used before selling it.
1) Opera mobile version 12.0.3 displays all web pages correctly with no freezing/crashes.
2) I uninstalled ZDBox and used a battery app from Google Play. It shows in the tray
next to the clock and improved battery life.
3) I got full market by using some instructions which changed the permissions. Just Google
"full market xml files". Changing just the build.prop alone did not do the trick.
4) In build.prop I changed the "wifi.supplicant_scan_interval" from 15 to 180.
It was great not to have words on web pages replaced with random text and also improve battery life.
Hope this helps.
