Well, the update broke wifi on my device - no way to turn it on. Back to 4.0.1. I wonder what the percentage is of people who have tried this update and it worked compared to those that tried it and it didn't work...?

With all the horror stories, I will refrain from updating the firmware. It seems more trouble then benefit.

Wifi broke with 4.0.3
Hi good morning,
I tried to load the rom 4.0.3 and I actually broke the WIFI.
I'm back behind ClockworkMod restoring a copy and still fails.
Do you fix down the original 4.0.1?
thanks

It worked perfect for me. Download the apropiate one (paladin rom, not basic rom). All works a little faster and Wifi is more stable (but with the same range). With 4.0.3 and MagicCode is not a bad tablet for the price.

And what do you think, who made this update? First of all, NONE of us, even the chinese guys, have the required BSP and kernel source code to build any ICS code. The last release by Ainol was for 2.3.5, and as such, we can only build that properly (many things changed in 4.0 from 2.3.5, including their mostly modified MIPS dalvik, and many many internal systems, also changed by Ainol, oh not to talk about kernel, our version was 2.6.36 if I recall right, but defo not 3.0.8). It is impossible this is a "custom build" of someone, but more likely a "leaked" release (Ainol pushed it on the forums, so they can have free testers of the firmware during the holidays, then when they get back, a few lil fixes and done, release ready, instead of long testings).
If this tablet was some random ARM one, I would say, possible. But as the official repos contain only a few mips supporting native parts, it's highly unlikely that someone spent time and money to get such a release out. And even less likely that this fictional guy re-coded all the libraries of the included apps to work on MIPS. I'm still saying, it must be an internal Ainol release what got leaked some way.
