It has to be on the sd card. It also cannot be in a subdirectory

After much trepidation, I updated my tab using this method. It was painless.

Thank you fads! This should be a sticky.

How did you update it? did you do it through stock recovery or through CWM, coz if CWM then i guess it will have a lot of problems.

if you had followed the steps as written there would be no faults, you have obviously flashed it through clockwork recovery?as you have flashed the 4.03 update, your tablet now has stock recovery,so its very simple to fix.Just make sure you have downloaded the file in my first post, rename it to update.zip and place it in the root of your microsd card(ie not in a directory)then switch off tablet and turn it on whilst holding the volume+ key,it will flash the update and you will have working wifi, sound etc

Thanks a lot FADS, this is indeed an easy and painless process. I used stock recovery, my only problem so far is how to get calendar and contacts to sync, but so far so good, I have gone a long way with my Paladin and it's nice to see it working on the maximum level.

In all the hubbub, I've lost sight of what the update does for the N7P that isn't already working?

well it fixes the html5 problem which was causing problems with dolphin etc it makes the tablet allround faster and smoother with no lag in the ui,wifi stability,an increase of around 40% in system speed, stock 4.0.1 quadrant result was 890 with the update it now shows 1440.
better app compatability,on stock maybe 2 out of 10 apps ran-with the update it is nearer 8 out of 10
with my market modifications i can view more apps on my paladin than i can on my motorola xoom
all gapps sync perfectly without any modifications
with the update my paladin is now a match for my xoom,so much so that i might sell my xoom
it has gone from being a nice tablet crippled by incomplete firmware to a great tablet that is unbeatable for the price
