[WTH] Vendors response to why they sent me a Basic instead of the Advance i ordered..
Read for your self gentlemen.
Hello,
This may sound confusing but what you received is the Advance model even though it is in the basic box.
Please check the about device in settings and it should show that it is a Advance and android 2.3.
Only the basic model comes in android 3.2 which is not what you received.
Best Regards,
Amy
So they are telling me that while the box and packaging say Basic all over it, the tablet is an Advance! Now i'm not near my tablet but this email has actually got me thinks she may be right!
And it maybe too late b/c i have already upgrade to ICS 4.0.
Anyway to check the chipset through the setting menu to ensure the tablet i got is xburst vs Allwinner A10?
No way i would have been able to do the things i did to that thing with out it being a Basic, right?
I don't even know how to respond...

Defintely interested in knowing what vendor you ordered from. I believe I have spoken with an "Amy" as well. Luckily, my order was cancelled and a refund was made.

As far as I know the Advanced has a black back and the basic has a white back. Also if you run some system info program (like System Tuner) it should say MIPS or ARM for processor type.

Nope that's wrong. I do have a basic version and is has black back.
Btw, did you upgrade using the Advanced or Basic version? Because you can't change them. I mean, you can't upgrade Basic with Advanced firmware and backwards.
If you can't remember you can check it at Settings -> About Tablet, and there is has to be listed somewhere.
Another trick is to look in the Market. A lot of apps and popular Apps = Advanced version (because of ARM processor). Less apps = Basic (because of MIPS processor).Last edited by pascallj; 01-03-2012 at 11:04 AM.

Any updates what Chinagrabber is doing about sending you the wrong tablet? Would love to know as I was considering the Onda Vi40 through them but the site reviews are disastrous....
