Firmware upgrade instructions

1. Download firmware and upgrade tool
2. Install "Tablet Product Tool(Developer Edition) 1.02" on your PC
3. Shut down device
4. Press and hold Volume + and connect the USB cable to PC
5. Install USB drivers
6. Launch "Tablet Product Tool(Developer Edition) 1.02" on your PC
7. Select all required files and press Run to start upgrade process
8. Once finished unplug USB cable and long press power button for 8 seconds to boot device
9. First boot after upgrade may take up to 2 min

NOTE! Backup all your files before upgrade. All personal files and app data files will be erased during upgrade.

NOTE! Each upgrade will reset the battery data and may result in wrong battery level, charge for 30 min to get accurate battery level.

Even more important: everything on the internal sd will be removed. So use titanium backup or anything to make backups of your apps and system files.

The 20130104-V1 firmware upgrade is mostly for the better battery performances.

I'm new to this so excuse me if my questions are totally wrong.

My Hero II came straight from Ainol-Novo with SuperUser already installed--that means it's rooted, right?

So if I upgrade the device using the method above, will the device still be rooted?

I got my test unit from Ainol not the reseller so i cant help you answer this question, but you can test to upgrade and let us know.

Btw, are you sure you are rooted? Install Root checker to make sure.

Yes, I ran Root Checker and it says I'm rooted.

I bought mine from Ainol Novo and it came rooted w/ Superuser already installed.

Does your unit have Superuser installed already?

I left them a message asking if I can use your method to upgrade.

I actually don't want to be rooted and I'm hoping your upgrade will get rid of the root.

I've been told that being rooted will not let me run the Redbox beta (and I can't) and other programs so I want to get rid of it. Someone told me that OTA Rootkeeper can help me unroot.

Just let the boot.ini be and replace all other files in the tool with the ones in both files above.

To uninstall the bloatware:
Use the followin tool (its in Chinese)

Root Explorer 2.20

Go to system/vendor/app as in the first picture (link) with the yellow lining.

Click the button with the red circle and you see it change.

Then press the unwanted app for some time and a window pops up (for example the blue).



The next window appears and you choose the third as in the next picture.



At least you choose the right button, as follows:



Then its deleted.

Yes you are right, the device comes pre-rooted by default from Ainol. Its the first time i hear i apps wont run cos device is rooted, its usually the other way around.

Here in the Netherlands the online TV apps of TV providers will not work when your device is rooted f.e. Hide my root is a better way to ''fix'' it in my opinion.

I updated my Hero II to 20130104 V1 and I observe the WIFI reception so poor. What can I do now? Is Ainol working on a new Firmware to solve these issues...appreciate the comments.
