    SmartQ Z Watch Android Smartwatch

    inline image
SmartQ has been quiet on the tablet front since their announcement to switch from OMAP to Exynos platorm.
And while we are still waiting for a new SmartQ Exynos tablet, they surprised us a wearable device called Smartq Z Watch.

The Z Watch is based on Android 4.3, using a low-power processor Ingenic JZ4775 (1.0GHz) and a 1.54-inch display. Is has a built-in motion sensor and a pedometer, connects to internet via Wifi and via Bluetooth your phone. The built-in battery is said to last up to 18.000 minutes or about 12,5 days in standby time, but the actual battery life remains to be tested in real life conditions.
The Z Watch has a built-in mic and could be controlled via voice commands or voice recognition to reply sms / email or other messages leaving your phone untouched. The wrist strap can be replaced and its also water proof.

The price for Z Watch is 699RMB (~115USD) in China which is very affordable, and is said to start shipping October 10.

It all started with Bebble, then came the Sony smartwatch and now Samsung Galaxy Gear so the trend is obvious.
The technology is ready for this product, and Android is again making things easier for manufacturers to develop their own smartwatches cheap. Apple will eventually release their own "jail" smartwatch (iWatch) once they learn which features they can copy best and call it the first smartwatch in the world

Its a bold move from SmartQ to get on this market this early, im really exited to see how this it turns out.
The watch will be displayed at the Hong Kong Electronic fair next week so expect a hands-on video very soon.
