Some Questions
I am new to this forum as i am getting one if these tablets courtesy of my wife soon. I am not new to android as I Aldo have a Motorola triumph which if you know anything about that phone you know it has to be tinkered with a lot to work! So my questions:
1) does this tab need to be rooted to work it's best? If so how hard is it to root? Are there much in the way of Roms, kernels etc for this? Do apps like Hulu work on here?
2) can anyone post shots of what ics looks like running on here?
3) would be interested to know how happy people are with this tab. The reviews at amazon are all positive but there is only three of them.
4) any other tips for maximizing this tab? I did see the video guides eyc which I will check out when it comes in.

Also have you found the quality to be good? I have heard of these Chinese tablets being inconsistent in build quality. Having never had one of these Chinese products just a little nervous about how it will be!

Just got my tablet and it says it is running 4.0.3 already. Am correct that this comes rooted? Should I update the firmware even though its brand new?

yes the tablet comes rooted.....4.0.3 is the latest ICS version for this tablet, no need to update .....i have owned the iview 760 for a couple of months now and i have had no issues so far...i like it very much....enjoy.
ps: in the official thread sticky on the first page there are some video tutorials, information, Mod's & scripts, in particular script 5b you might want to eventually look at.Last edited by sando7; 05-26-2012 at 02:25 AM.

I have gone through and watched some of the videos. Got it all set up and get the phone part cut off to help with battery. One thing I haven't seen anywhere is IF you can do widgets on here. I have tried the long press on the screen approach and just keep getting wallpaper options coming up.

Do any of the new firmwares improve the touchscreen response? It can be a little inconsistent as far as response speed. Hulu and Netflix do seem to be working ok though.

Also is there a way to unlock the market without flashing a new firmware?

@Wigginst
Widgets are done through the application launcher (top right of screen). 2 tabs, Apps and Widgets, long press on a widget to place on the home screen (or other screens).
Touchscreen response is a little difficult, I had better luck with an older version of ICS, background apps that are running and sucking up resources will also effect response.
The Allwinner mod will allow you to spoof a different device that will open more apps in the playstore (it can be found there).
