Upgrading Onda vx610w to ICS 4.0.3
Hi, I just got my first android device, the Onda vx610w capacitive version. The tablet seems pretty good, but came installed with android 2.3 and I feel it's a bit naff.
I've been searching on how I can upgrade to the latest ICS, and found a file on onda's site that I'm downloading now (2 more hours to go, yay for slow chinese web servers!). The file is called VX610WH_Android4-1.0.3-0.8.rar which I believe is for my device?
I'm a noob and have never used android before. How exactly do I upgrade my tablet to the latest firmware and android version?

Just a warning - that file was NOT for the capacitive, black version. Still looking for a working img.
Does anyone know if the latest firmware for the vx610w is VX610WP_V1_Android4.0.3-0.8.rar?
I don't know what the V1 stands for..Last edited by machineboy; 02-28-2012 at 02:31 PM.

Use google translate when surfing on the onda download page, and please stop flashing firmwares you chose by rolling the dice. You might end up with a bricked tablet. V1 of course stands for the version number, if you had translated the download page you would know how to check the version number of your device. (on the vi30 for example its the 9th and 10th digit in the serial number on the back).
PS: Please do not open a new thread for every new problem that might occur, this or the other might just be enough, don't you think?

There are actually 3 different versions of the VX610W - you have to check the 3 Chinese characters after "Model VX610W" on the serial number label.
VX610W时尚版 (shishangban) "Fashion Edition" - has 5 point capacitive screen
VX610W豪华版 (haohuaban) "Deluxe Edition" - also has 5 point capacitive screen
VX610W加强版 (jiaqiangban) "Enhanced Edition" - has 2 point resistive screen
If your unit has a white case, it's the one with the 2-point screen - if it has a black case, it could be any of them.
The "Fashion Edition" is a cost reduced model with an A13 CPU rather than the A10 (and consequently clocked at 1GHz) and has no TV-Out. The other specs are the same. As far as I can see, there is no "Basic Edition". Each unit has different firmware.
