I finally got around to re-flashing ICS and running the script on my Teclast P76ti a third time, and as they say, third time's the charm! The only difference in what I did was that this time I ran the script right after a clean reboot of the tablet. The first time I had tried out ICS a bit first, and the second time I had just finished configuring my settings.
So let me officially say thank you! Especially with Google's applications running I can tell that ICS will be a real joy once (if?) the remaining kinks are worked out in the firmware. Hopefully Allwinner and Teclast are working on it.

Thanks.
I finally got it to where most of it in English.
Per the instructions there ...the 9th and 10th character of my serial # are V2 ..meaning I should use Version V2. Am I right in this?
Then ..there are two download links for each firmware upgrade, but they appear to be the same when I just hover my mouse pointer over each. So does it matter whether I use the right or left link?
Pretty sure I am going to stay with 4.0..but just for education ..if I downloaded firmware for a earlier version, say 2.0 ..that would take me back to that version ..right?
Thanks for your patience.

Yup you are V2.
I think one is a high speed link, the other is a low speed link, but i'm not sure. I picked the one with the most bars.
Yes. One reason to stay with 1.8 or 2.0 is speed. generally the tablet will behave quicker right now. That said I haven't flashed 4.0.3 yet, so I don't know if they fixed most of the speed issues. Also 1.8 or 2.0 will both run adobe flash well. Right now the 4.0.x variants can not run flash well.
That said ICS is very fun to run, and very powerful.

I have looked high and low for a guide to upgrading firmware for the Onda Vi30W ..found nothing.
What I have done so far, and understand:
>downloaded proper firmware (latest 4.0)
>downloaded lordsbm script (will use after firmware upgrade)
>set Onda Vi30 to debug for usb, and increased timeout to 30 min.
>after plugging into USB, tablet connected ..turned on usb ...able to view files/folders on Onda tablet through 'My Computer'.
What I do not know ..is what to do with the 'LiveSuitPack_v1.07.exe' file that is in the RAR upgrade. To my understanding I have to point an .exe file to a placement in the Onda directory, and execute.
Am I close?
Need that extra push, as I really do want to get this tab going. Thanks so much for all help received so far.

The livesuitepack is an installer. Once it installs you can run the LiveSuit.exe . That will give you the firmware upgrade dialog that you see in the numerous screenshots. You can follow the topnotchtablets Novo7 guide. The only real difference between them is that the button key combination for the Onda is simply pressing the Menu button while plugging in the usb cable.
Oh I just upgraded to 4.0.3. The Vi30W is a lot faster now. It's a definite upgrade.
*EDIT* unfortunately I can't seem to get the market in lordsbm's script to work with 4.0.3. Will update after more work.
*EDIT2* got market working with the ICS_4.0.3_SGS2_Script although I removed the build.prop from the batch file. I actually don't know the difference between the two, but wth, market works....Last edited by suppin; 01-19-2012 at 07:24 AM.

I have built PCs for years ..working with all types of Windows and other software.
I then tried a variety of Linux Distros, and eventually gave them up for the ease of using Windows.
Using Linux was almost like programming, it seemed ..and I was no programmer.
Being that Android is built on Linux, why do I wonder that I have sweaty palms?
Still hangin!

Bama the scripts are batch files with goto commands. Simple enough to understand. open one up and you'll see. Reading one through may give you confidence. Like I said once you can flash your firmware you can recover from most anything.
The script is a batch file. remove a few lines from the batch file that I used is all it took. The build.prop stuff can be tricky depending on what you want to do. For the most part the only reason you modify your original one is if you want more apps on the market. Generally though even if you don't modify it most apps appear (with 4.0.1 & 4.0.3). If you feel the urge to play with it you can end in an unbootable state. Recovery is still as easy as flashing the firmware so....
STEP 1 for all folks. Read the FAQ, download your firmware and make sure you can flash! This will let you recover from most anything you do (not all but 99% ish).

I really do appreciate the help ..AND I am about to make a leap here.

Let me lay out my sequence and see if it looks/sounds right.
1- download firmware
2 - unpack to a folder on desktop
3 - set up usb debug and extend time in tablet
4 - hold down menu key while plugging usb into tablet - which is turned on
5 - navigate to folder on desktop containing 'Livesuit.exe'. Double click that file.
Then follow the rest of the Novo 7 example @ Topnotchtabs
The two things that seem a bit odd/off/missing are..
> After I plug in the USB ..it has to be actually turned on in the tab. I guess that would take place between 4 & 5 if needed.
> It still seems odd that I would use the exe file from within Windows and it would 'see' the firmware update process in the tablet. If that is it, so be it.
Ready to dive. Please correct me if I am headed down a wrong path. I am sure it will be easier the second time around
Thanks again.
