New A31. 28nm or 40nm?
A chart showing what Allwinner is doing.
There are different opinions out there on whether they are using 40nm or 28 nm SOC. Maybe it is 40 for the A20; 28 for the A31. They are definitely made on different platforms.

That article is mainly regarding laptops. Of course, the same issue discussed regarding battery life applies, just probably more important to the person looking to buy a tablet made in China.
Also, 28 should run cooler.
I had read that Allwinner was very conscious of battery drain, touting their new A31 as being more efficient. Same for the new ACT chipsets. Interesting that those two are taking different approaches to power, AW using a stronger GPU; ACT supposedly having a stronger CPU.
If the Allwinner and ACT chips are actually 40nm, then when we see the new RK3188 ...we will really be having a discussion.

Well, this will probably be a short lived thread ..as it does look like the A31 is 40nm.
??A31??4+1???-??,Allwinner,A31,4+1,A20,-?
Lesson: Always take what the vendors (like McBub) say, with a grain of salt!
Now ...Andropos. You might wish to change the original heading from 'A31. 28nm or 40nm' to something like 'Your New Quad Core. 28 nm or 40nm?' ...and then move the thread to 'Chat'.
Probably be a good topic !
