Ainol Novo7 Basic review by YouBou
Hello guys, i'm kind of new around here.. just bought the Ainol Novo7 Basic because i fell inlove with the specs; Android 3.2 Honeycomb, CPU: Xburst 1.0 Ghz, 512MB RAM, 7" Screen, Supports Full HD 1080p, G-Sensor, 2.0MP Camera and more...
When i got the package i got very excited and opened it fast, turned it on and my first impression was: Holy shit this is amazing! It's cheap and looks great. I also fell inlove with Android 3.2 because it's sexy and awesome. The speed is great too, the battery life lasts long, i turned on WiFi and after 4 hours the battery decreased about 20%. The screen looks amazing but it's kind of dark, the brightness is on 100% but my eyes aren't 100% satisfied.. I'll probably get used to it.
The first bad thing i noticed are the onscreen buttons to the right.. you have to press them hard to make it work.. sometimes even twice.. maybe it's just me because i'm used to sensitive onscreen buttons.. it's not a big deal and it's probably fixable.
The second bad thing i noticed is the vibration.. when you press the onscreen buttons the device vibrates and this makes an awefull sound (This function is called "Haptic feedback") I just had to turn it off because i got extremely annoyed because of it.. but this isn't a big deal either.
First impression of browsing on the internet; Lightning fast! What else do you expect with 512MB of ram and 1Ghz Xburst CPU? I love it.
Unfortunately, there is one big problem that you've probably already heard about, the A7B doesn't support a lot of applications.. this sucks of course.. but i'm a guy that doesn't need a lot of apps and games, i only need the basic ones and that's enough for me to be satisfied.

ANDROID 4.0.1 ICS REVIEW:
Okay so i had to try out the ICS firmware.. it looked nice and was great.. but it came with a lot of bugs.. flash didn't work at all.. i pressed PLAY on a YouTube video and the screen went completely black.. i could still hear the sound.. but the display was black.. i pressed all the keys but the screen remained BLACK.. i could notice that the device was still working and responding but the screen was messed up.. i had to hit the reset button. The second thing i noticed was the Browser.. when i opened Google the device got EXTREMELY slow.. huge lags and this wasn't normall at all.. i killed the browser process with the Task Manager that came with the firmware but it didn't helt at all.. had to reboot the device again! I also noticed that the device was slower than with the 3.2 firmware.. that's why i decided to return to the 3.2 firmware after this huge mistake of upgrading it. I hope and i'm sure Ainol will come with great updates and bug fixes soon as this isn't 100% official yet.

(The video width was a little bit fucked up.. selected the "YouTube" option on my camera but it sucks.. next time it will be better)

Hello YouBou and thanks for the review. I did order the same device some days ago and im waiting for it. Have you tried to update your firmware or are you running the latest version?

I have the latest version now, updated with the "Android 3.2_20111126" version yesterday and seems like the brightness is a lot better now and it got a lot of games and apps pre-installed.

Ok, so the tablet "died" with new firmware on while charging it?

No that happened on the firmware that it came with (Android 3.2, but i don't know what version) it was kind of weird.. tablet was on and i plugged in the charger.. left it the whole night.. woke up and the device didn't want to start anymore.. i got a little bit scared but after pressing the reset button everything worked good again.
